Dress Up Your Fall

As the temperatures cool down, I find myself wanting to stay home a little more, snuggle my dog and curl up in a blanket. This happens every year, as we say good bye to summer and my heart slowly breaks at the thought of waiting a full year to experience those scorching temperatures once more. In an attempt to pull myself out of the inevitable winter rut, I take full advantage of fall temperatures by finding the best fall fashion finds and wearing the shit out of them until it’s too cold to bear. Sometimes even then, I’ll just throw a layer on top (or underneath) and STILL rock some cute outfits.  My newest obsession: http://www.tobi.com/ca.

A Hazy Shade of Winter

Well friends, winter is officially here! I have hoped and hoped that it would never come, but every year, a harsh dose of reality hits me: I live in Canada, winter is inevitable. Now don’t get me wrong – I LOVE living in Toronto. It’s such a vibrant city full of acceptance and culture. But when winter comes along and those temperatures drop, I do find myself wondering why I live in a city that hurts my face, literally. The air is so cold, it hurts. Nevertheless, this city is my home and I’m grateful to call it that, so I’ve just had to learn how to  bundle up and keep warm when those colder months hit.

Which leads me to my next point; staying warm and staying fashionable in the colder months sometimes don’t go hand in hand. Most of the time, the jackets that are cute, won’t keep you warm and the ones that will, almost always are made of wool or down (yuck!!). Now I should be clear – these photos below were not taken in below freezing temps. While this jacket is extremely warm, I think anything below zero would need one a little more heavy duty – but that’s just my opinion.

Back in Black

When I saw this Free People top at Nordstrom, I knew I had to have it and I prayed it fit me well. To start, it’s black, allowing my (debatable) unhealthy obsession with all things black continue. It is also right on trend with side slits, flared arms and the sexiest (if I may say so myself) criss cross across the chest. I immediately checked the tag for fabric details and was elated when I saw no animal fabrics were used. WIN!

When a sweater catches my eye, it’s extremely important to me that it hugs my curves properly. I have a very curvy figure, so finding clothes that accentuate my curves, without flaunting them too much is sometimes somewhat of a challenge. It’s that exact reason that I can never allow myself to fully fall in love with a piece of clothing before trying it on.
