Raw vegan food is a hard thing to master. I find either I love it or I hate it. If done properly, raw food can be incredible. I have recently started to move towards the 80/10/10 diet by Douglas Graham (can be found here: 80/10/10 Book), so I have been experimenting with raw food quite frequently. The problem with raw food restaurants, I find, is that there is a very high fat content in most of the foods. Many dishes are made with nuts or coconut oil and while it’s delicious and “healthy fat”, it still adds more to my fat content than I’d like for the day. That said, I found the contrary for the food I ordered at The Vegan Duchess. It was not too fatty. If anything, it was fresh and light.
Their slogan is “raw organic quickserve”, and this restaurant is exactly that. It’s great if you don’t have time to sit down for a meal as there are only a few stools set up at the front. They sell premade raw pizzas and cashew parfaits ready to be picked up. Also worth trying is the premade apple crumble – I didn’t have a chance to try it, but boy did it look appetizing.
