Sweetpea’s organic cookies are recommended for kids aged 1-101, which is a relief because these little nuggets are my new favourite biscuit.
The cookies are made from 100% whole grains and contain zero dairy, eggs, salt, additives or preservatives. Parents will also be pleased to know that they are made in a peanut-free facility and would do great in packaged lunches. They are also certified Kosher.
The distinct spice in the Pumpkin Spice flavor tasted like Thanksgiving or a perfect fall day, and had me reaching for seconds. The Strawberry Banana reminded me of strawberry shortcake, but healthier. The Sweet Apple was my favorite, evoking memories of warm apple pie on a cold day.
I warn you though: They’re addictive. The bags are re-sealable, but that won’t do you much good. You’re going to plow through them quickly. They are flavourful without being overpowering or artificial-tasting, and are surprisingly rich in texture considering they are dairy and egg-free. I loved how they satisfied both my crunch and sweet cravings, without creating a huge crumbly mess.
The cookies are available in Sweet Apple, Pumpkin Spice, Strawberry Banana and Banana Pear flavors. You can order them online from Beretta Farms (www.berettafarms.com) or refer to their site for in-store retailers such as Whole Foods and Babies ‘R Us.
